I'm going to be posting some memoirs from my time in Xi'an, China this summer. In order to avoid becoming the next ChinaBounder, I'll be leaving out some of the good parts, at least on this public blog. I also don't want to bore you too much with rambling, so I'll try to keep it as short as possible.
I arrived in Xi'an on July 12th, two days later than I had anticipated since I didn't get the right date on my train ticket from Changsha. I was initially impressed by the layout of the city, as well as the cleaner appearance compared to the cities that I had visited in southern China. I would later find out that this wasn't the case, but the initial grandeur gave me a good impression of the city to begin from.
The honeymoon ended the very next day when I realized that people were staring at me. In retrospect, some of it probably was curiosity, but everything that I had read about racism in China, as well as the hostile facial expressions worn by the denizens of Xi'an in comparison to the milder facial expressions and smiles of Guangzhou and Changsha residents made me feel like I wasn't welcome. To make matters worse, there was constant spitting, and given how close my hosts' nasty projectiles landed to my feet made me realize that many people indeed wanted me to leave their city.
This treatment led me to hunkering down in my filthy apartment while avoiding contact with others, aside from work. Work itself was enjoyable. Interactions with my students and coworkers were the high points of my time in Xi'an until I decided to take more chances. I appreciated my students and coworkers, and they will always have a place in my memories, but outside of work, I was a loner. This is partially due to my position in the social dynamic, but I realize now that it truly is my nature. That isn't to say that I do not like to interact with others (especially beautiful women), but I do enjoy my time to myself.
What else did I learn?
Bring More Money than You Think You'll Need
It's not a good thing to go broke in a foreign country. I made the mistake of taking a local friend's word when it came to prices. As a foreigner getting set up, things are going to be more expensive than they would be for an established local (especially an established local that does not seem to value cleanliness). Also, a lot of the information that one may read online is old and prices have increased since then. Assume that things are going to be expensive, and if you find things to be cheaper than expected, at least you have savings to fall back on.
Use the Environment to Your Advantage
This could be the physical environment or the social environment. Down in Changsha, being an English speaker made me more valuable. People seemed to be more curious and open-minded about foreigners, including Black Americans. I was able to segue language exchanges into dinners and more. In Xi'an, this was not the case. However, when I didn't have enough money to get food, I was able to survive off of free samples at the local supermarket. The ladies there warmed up to me after seeing me every day, and would essentially give me full meals as "samples" in exchange for the chance to practice English on a foreigner.
If I needed to get hydrated, I'd have to wait until the night. Going to the club became a regular part of my daily schedule, and I would always meet a group of Chinese people that wanted to welcome me to their country, found me interesting, or just wanted to get a foreigner drunk. Just about every time I went out, I'd get free drinks, and occasionally I would get lucky with a Chinese girl (or two). I found Xi'an to be a lot friendlier at night than during the day.
Deal with Discomfort
I am the type of person that likes comfort, security, and luxury, but these things are not always guaranteed. I wouldn't want to live in harsh or filthy conditions indefinitely, but if it pays off, it might be worth dealing with. I learned that I can live without many of the comforts that I indulged myself with in America, and I have found myself being more efficient with my time and money. Looking back on it, I probably should have stayed for a year, then worked my way up to more comfortable living conditions. At least I have learned things that will help me the next time that I go to China, as well as with life in general.
I'll talk about some of my other experiences when I get around to it. Right now, I'm trying to build my funds, muscles, and skillset back up so that I can be a better person next time I visit the Middle Kingdom.

Three Steps to Stop Being a Social Degen
Gaming used to be a huge part of my life. I would spend hours in front of the computer, yelling at teammates and adversaries alike, blowing away pixelated foes while letting real life pass me by. I would never socialize in real life, and I skated by making money online (nothing wrong with making some cash online though). I was the image of a social degen.
I've since turned my back on this degenerate lifestyle, instead seeking to be more proactive in living a successful life. Here are three steps that I have taken that may help some of you:
1. Start Hitting the Gym
Not only will a good exercise program help you to gain muscle, shed fat, and build testosterone, but it may also help you to build your social skills. If you work out at a gym frequently enough, you will probably end up making buddies with some of the regulars there. You may learn some new workout techniques, and improve your abilities to socialize. Just keep your own fitness goals in mind.
2. Ditch Your Old Friends
Your old friends probably have some of the old habits that you are trying to break free from, and it is likely that they will also try to drag you back into your old ways. You may not have to write them off completely, but if you have goals of your own that you are trying to accomplish, remember that your objectives take priority.
3. Change Your Style
You may want to change your wardrobe a bit. Try to keep up with some of the latest styles, and wear clothes that fit your body better. If you have been putting on visible muscle mass, you may want to show off some of those upper pecs, to make the ladies pay the checks. Expanding your horizons and learning new languages, new skills, and other things may help as well. Finally, learn to control your voice and practice your elocution. When it comes to learning and diction, there are many free resources that can be found online; just cut an hour a day out of online entertainment and other non-productive activities.
These changes have helped me tremendously, and I think that they will help you too. Modify them as you see fit, and keep learning new, applicable things to improve your own life. Good luck.

My Opinion on the "Blue Pill" and "Red Pill" as of 11/23/2013
Alright, I'm going to be jotting this down between rounds of the Pacquiao vs. Rios fight, so bear with me.
As per my understanding, "Blue Pill" in the Manosphere refers to those that tow the party line of the Liberal Left. These people believe in faux "equality", "social justice", and other such things, and of course, tend to be ardent feminists that believe that women can do no wrong and men are the root cause of all evils on Earth (of course, this may be exaggerated, but you get the drift). Many of these beliefs appeal to non-Whites and Beta males because nobody wants to be a designated loser. These beliefs offer hope that the world can change for the better from the perspective of the loser, so losers flock to them for their placebo effect.
On the other hand, the "Red Pill" is a set of beliefs that is more akin to the Right of the political spectrum. Of course, there are more masculist beliefs here, but there are also some strong White supremacist leanings. The winner must always win, and those that are losing should be happy to be losers. Of course, this turns off a lot of Black men for obvious reasons, and may even lure us to the "Blue Pill".
The solution to this issue is to take neither. To extend the metaphor, both pills have things that taste good in them, and both have nutrition to them, but they are both fatal. To swallow either will lead to death, whether it is mental, social, spiritual (not talking about religion, but morale), or even physical. Instead of taking these packaged pills, take ingredients of both and eat organic, or manufacture your own. What this means is that you should take aspects of both philosophies that will benefit you and create your own.
Rios got pwned; that was quite a surprise. It was an entertaining fight though for sure.

It is Not Cool to be a Nerd in 2013
I was an academic nerd growing up (to an extent, I still am). In junior high and high school, I had absolutely no luck or skill when it came to women. Most of my teachers, and even my parents taught me that it was OK to be a nerd, and that things would get better as I grew older. They were correct, but only because I decided to shed (a substantial amount of) the nerdy persona (and because I took a trip to Japan back when Black men were popular there).
Perhaps a couple of generations ago, the nerds would have the last laugh as the jocks chased their athletic dreams, fell short, and ended up working some low-tier jobs while the nerds called the shots or got higher-paying occupations like doctors, lawyers, programmers, etc., but these days, that doesn't seem to be the case. The nerd that lacks social skills will end up having a lot of smarts that are will not be utilized, or will be underutilized while the attractive females and Alpha males will get first dibs, even if they aren't as skilled or brilliant. With the amount of information at our fingertips due to the Internet and the advent of smartphones, the nerd that would spend hours searching for and reading books has become obsolete now that information can be accessed by laymen in mere seconds.
Worse yet, this technology has made "self-medication" a lot easier. No, I'm not talking about drugs and booze, but the vices of the nerd: games and pornography. Both of these offer an escape from reality, and both of them can become a routine to the point that the nerd will not do anything to improve their life, whether it's learning to socialize, hitting the gym, or even perfecting their craft. This makes it even harder to find success in life as a nerd.
Yes, there are exceptions. If you are a nerd and you're going to create the next big thing, then your money and fame will make up for your shortcomings (just don't get played). Still, you can't fall for distractions and "self-medication" if you want to reach that level of success. The nerd that is a genetic Alpha (or the White nerd that moves to East Asia) may also come out on top. The common geek that is a gamer, whacks it, watches anime all day, and only takes breaks to study, eat, and sleep probably won't make it too far in life (not just with women, but in life period).
Don't get me wrong: there is nothing wrong with studying and perfecting your craft. There is nothing wrong with being intelligent. In fact, these are things that you should strive to do and be. You just have to be able to utilize these things to your benefit, and unless you are one of the few people that can do it alone, you will have to be able to interact with others.
My advice to the nerd is to hit the gym. Going to the gym will force you to get out more, put you in more social situations, and help you to improve your looks, at least somewhat. Learn a little bit of what they call game, but realize that game is not the end all. Read more, and not just comic books, manga, video game walkthroughs, and your academic subject matter, but read history and philosophy, especially that which directly applies to people like you. All of these things will help to change your life for the better, and help you to integrate with society in order to get more out of life.
In conclusion, there is nothing wrong with being academically intelligent, but what good is it if you cannot share it with the world, or use it to get what you need out of the world. Now, if you are one of the people that can survive completely isolated from society, or if you prefer not to engage in socializing, then I guess it's alright to be a hardcore nerd, but if you want to be social, then you must develop the skills, like most things in life. Good luck.

Initial Post and Explanation
Lately, I've been dabbling a bit in what they call the "Manosphere", and I've decided to start this blog in order to drop my opinion on things pertaining to dealing with women, dealing with life, lessons I've learned from some of my experiences, and so on. I'm not a PUA, and I am not a highly successful Alpha. This is just a place for me to ramble, although you might pick up some things that can help you out.
If you expect someone to blog rote memorizations of "red pill" rhetoric, this isn't the place for you. There are hundreds of other blogs and sites that you can check out, so I suggest for you to go there if that is what you're looking for. Like most of my blogs, I just intend to ramble a bit, share things that I find interesting from my perspective, and chronicle my development.
I hope that you enjoy this blog (when I decide to update it), and perhaps even learn something or become inspired.
